THE JOB FROM HELL
So after my first job ended (I quit) I went back to the agency that I signed up with and told them what happened and I am looking for a new job. This time they sent me to another job in NJ. A mother of two with a pet dog. I arrived at the train station and was picked up by my employer. A shorter, smaller built prettier woman. Surprisingly I was not told to sit in the back like my last employer requested, but up front. We had a semi pleasant conversation on the way back to her home. She asked where I was from? How old am I? Do I have any siblings etc. I arrived at the home via the kitchen entrance. This home was not as grand or as dirty as my last job, thank goodness. I was taken into the den and was introduced to her children a boy 2 and a little girl 4. I then was introduced to man sitting on a couch as a "family friend" She then called out to her dog , who came running to greet her, a huge German Shepherd. I was then showed around the house starting each room had a specific way it should be cleaned and kept. The den and the kitchen was the entertaining area so I was to keep it clean at all times. The living room would also be needed to be cleaned on a daily basis because the dog was not house trained and unfortunately for me would use this particular room as it's personal bathroom. I was then taken upstairs to the bedrooms and given instructions on when laundry was to be done and how to have beds made up every morning. After the rundown of the house and family. I asked her if she was married she replied very coldly. "I'm going through a divorce". Then asked me in her still cold voice Is that all. I said yes and we walked back downstairs. She and her "family friend" left for that day and it was just the kids, the dog and me. The following day I got up and got ready for work put coffee on and got the kids up and dressed. We were having breakfast when I started to smell something awful. Ugh. The kids must of known immediately what it was cause they both said it unison...That's Samantha. I followed the smell and sure enough a huge brown package was left behind the potted plant. Oh did I mention they had carpet. Not the most pleasant thing to be doing in the middle of breakfast but of course I had to clean it up. So through out the day I played with the kids while trying to keep things clean and organized. Their mom did not get up until 11:00am which I notice was quite the norm. (for her) When she got up and was dressed and out the house I would go in her bedroom to make the bed up and tidy up. Ohhhh. This particular part of the job I found to be very hard. Dirty underwear's old tissue all over the floor. The room was just so unorganized. I remembered what my aunt told me. Whenever you have to clean someone's bed or bath room put some gloves on. So I found some and got to cleaning. Even with gloves I still found it disturbing. She was never around for most of the days even though she did not work. Though she would be home around 6:00pm when the kids are finishing their dinner. She would sit at the table and have conversations with them on how was their day and ask them what they did that day. Although I was sitting right their and could of answered all her questions for her in detail but was never asked. I gave the kids their bath and put them to bed. I went downstairs to clean up after dinner. While cleaning up I was told to wipe down the kitchen counter and put out some glasses for her. She told me where they were and I did as I was told. Maybe about 15 minutes into cleaning the doorbell rang and she went to open it. It was her "family friend" and another man. I said my hellos and continued on cleaning. They all sat in the den talking and drinking. I was surprised the kids did not wake up, but something told me they were probably use to it by now. I stayed up until 11:00pm cleaning up after their mess plus the dog left another brown package behind the potted plant. I was so tired I decided to just head out to bed and clean up what ever mess was left by the partiers the following morning. This was an everyday situation until...One day I woke up to hear shouting but it was just her voice I heard. So I assume she was on the phone. I did not want to know what she was yelling about all I know this job was reaching it's limit for me. She never came out of her room no earlier than 11:00am that day but when she did she was angry I took the brunt of anger because the den and kitchen was not cleaned up like she requested it to be every day. Although it was her and her "family friend" plus one that stayed up drinking and partying till wee hours of the night. I was told to have this place cleaned up and have the kids dressed. I did as I was told that morning. When everything was done. Rooms cleaned things put away children were away for the day. I assume with their father...hence her shouting that morning and now in a Godzilla up the tower kind of mood. I bravely spoke to her and told her I was leaving. Did not need to pay me for the day. She replied very nasty "who do you think you are" I looked at her in a shocked kind of way feeling like I just stepped in Samantha's brown package that she leaves for me behind the potted plant. I was genuinely confused cause I said that she did not have to pay me for the day. She looked at me with so much anger in her eyes and just yelled at me to get out. So I got my things and left. Went to the neighbors house and asked if I can use their phone, their nanny let me in and I told her what happened and she let me use their phone. I could not get out any faster if I tried. I decided right then and there. No more NJ for me.
